H & S Joinery Ltd has a highly qualified work force most employee’s having attained NVQ level 3, equivalent or higher, the work force is diverse with a range of ages from 16 to 64.
We have a positive approach to training and are a firm believer in the benefits gained from apprenticeships, older experienced employees are able to pass their Knowledge on to the young trainee’s providing a skilled workforce for the future
We have an excellent relationship with North Lanc’s Training Group our preferred training provider and with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who have assisted with funding and advised on training initiatives one of which enabled us to achieve Investors In People recognition at the end of 2007Following in the footsteps
Steven Hudson (the managing director) joined the industry from school served his apprenticeship and gained qualifications to the level of HNC, along the way achieving apprentice of the year as well as being a Skill Build UK semi finalist in 1984.
More recently Stephen Miller was awarded apprentice of the year and took part in the regional heats of the Skill Build Olympics 2008 and gained an outstanding achievement Award from City & Guilds, this year another of our Apprentices Michael Ellison has been entered for the skill build Olympics and is also in the running for apprentice of the year.
Our apprentices are consistently above average achievers which gives testament to the quality of training provided and the experience ability and Knowledge of their mentors.
